When anyone asks me to define my style, it’s not so easy for me to answer. My clothes are as varied as the seasons. Bright and cheery in spring; dark and tough in autumn. So I thought I might define my style with a blog series called “Style Inspiration”.
I’d like to think that my punk side showed up in junior high when I started skateboarding with the boys in my neighborhood. I wasn’t great, but I was happy to know that I could put skateboarding on my Coolness Resume, right below biking and boondoggler. Plus the neighborhood boys were pretty cool to hang out with. I quickly grew out of it in high school, nonetheless it left some impression on me that was reawakened when I saw Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher’s film The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo.
Smart, tough as nails–I wish I knew Lisbeth as a young girl. I love the look of a loose top over fitted jeans or pants. Leather bags and boots that could take some wear and still look good. Good to know there are lots of stylish, classic badass pieces to wear to channel her look whether in autumn or spring.
