I loved this film so much. It’s Wes Anderson in a much grander scale. Like The Royal Tenenbaums mirroring the urban landscape of New York City, the fictional country of Zubrowka mirrors the old world grandeur and beauty of a European countryside, sadly on the brink of war.
The cast of players is immense. Lots of Anderson’s usual suspects and a few new faces, particularly its leads Ralph Fiennes and newcomer Tony Revolori. Ralph Fiennes was charming. It’s a story within a story within a story, beautifully told leaping gracefully among different eras (see how the film ratio changes!). It’s Anderson’s grandest film, and, possibly rising the ranks of my favorites.
