Hi all, this is my first product review ever! This past week I bought Cuyana’s passport case in Red.
I never heard of Cuyana until I received a catalog from them. At first I thought it was Everlane sending me their catalog, since I bought one of their twill backpacks a couple months earlier so I was super surprised that I got this catalog and figured maybe Everlane shared my info with Cuyana thinking I’d like their products. Both companies are based in San Francisco and boast timelessly designed quality products at a price point comparable to many mid-range leather good brands (Fossil, Kate Spade Saturday).
Perusing throughout the catalog and site I found a nice assortment of leather goods. The basics really for anyone’s personal line of accessories. They’ve got totes, wallets, iPad sleeves, they even delve into clothing. All classic designs that are sure to look great now and years from now.
I was researching passport cases since I’ll be going on a trip for a wedding this summer to Lithuania and wanted something to hold my passport, tickets and any other documents. It was a really tough decision, the classic black or maybe go bold with a color? In the end, I chose red since it’s bright and will be easy to find in my tote.
I ordered my Cuyana passport on Sunday evening, and it shipped the next day via Fedex standard shipping, and got it on Thursday—just with the standard shipping. That’s pretty quick considering I also had it monogrammed.
It came in a big box, think Goblet of Fire times 2 size (yes I measure boxes in Harry Potter books), and with no packing filling which is pretty eco conscious. The box was lined with orange tissue paper, and the case was in its own dust bag.
All in all, I’m quite pleased with the purchased. Negatives: the color was too orange. If you’re choosy about your colors, maybe order first before getting a monogram and exchange it if it’s not to your taste.
Positives: it’s a well-designed and very classy case. It shipped very quickly. I’d recommend these cases—they’d be perfect gifts for maybe a study abroad student or a graduation present. If you’re looking for more customization in the monogram, like a blind or sliver deboss, I’d look elsewhere like Leatherology.
