Los Angeles to Toronto. Toronto to Frankfurt. Frankfurt to Vilnius. This was going to be the first time I’d take three flights to get to a destination. I was intrepid at first, especially since I had layovers as short as one hour resulting in one close call. But other than that it all went pretty smoothly.
I was determined this time around to not overpack, something I usually do even for a weekend long trip. I had a Delsey carry-on sized suitcase that I was going to check-in, my Louis Vuitton keepall 45, and a Madewell tote. I managed not to overpack the check-in, making sure I had room for my souvenirs, but my keepall and tote were packed to the brim with my “essentials”:
- Cuyana travel cases with chargers, adapters, toiletries
- Bose noise canceling headphones
- Extra clothes
- Passport case
- Stuffed bear / neck pillow: My newest travel companion! A teddy bear that turns inside out into a neck pillow.
I slept for most of the flights, syncing my watch each time to my flight’s destination just so that my body could acclimate. I get jetlag something fierce, and I knew our final destination’s time difference was going to wreck me: +10 hours. We left Wednesday morning and got to Vilnius Thursday afternoon.
