I love having a summer birthday. Especially as a kid. No worrying about going to school on my birthday or on the day after. My friends would make it to the party or get together and we’d have a great time and possibly see each other the next day or the day after that. It was summer, and it was beautiful.
Now that I’m a working adult, it’s different. There’s more planning to it, more strategy. Sometimes my friends can’t make it out so we plan to get together some other time.
It was different this year. I took two days off. Two! I gave myself a long weekend so that I can hang with my friends and family and it’s been the best summer birthday in my adult life.
First, I stayed a night at Mama Shelter, a cute boutique hotel in Hollywood. We had a work party on their rooftop and it was the perfect start to my long birthday weekend.
Second, I took my parents to The Huntington were we roamed the art galleries and gardens. I also made reservations at their tea room.
I loved sharing this place with them.
And third, Disneyland with my first grade bestie! it was a busy Sunday, but we managed to hit our favorite rides.
It was one of my favorite birthdays in a long time. So glad I spent it with the people I really care about. Thank you for being in my life.
